The change in directors resulted in a DRASTIC change of consistency and to the viewers, a drastic change in how we percieve the magical world from that point on. From a movie standpoint, the tone, the music, the style, the vibe, it seems as though Columbus’ imagination and adaptation nailed almost everything from how Rowling initially thought it to be. Lemme try to explain, the first two movies introduced the magical world, along with everything in it. While I still like PoA and how it, in a way, expands on the magical world and introduces new aspects such as more of the architecture of Hogwarts, new magical creatures, a new, darker side to the story, etc., I still think that Columbus leaving after CoS was a mistake because the overall feeling of everything after changes.
